Happy 29th National Day, Brunei Darussalam

Assalamualaikum again :)
Recently, we have celebrated our country's 29th National day. Alhamdullillah.
Syukur kepada Allah Subahanahuwataala, kerana Brunei Darussalam is lead by a virtuous,
religious and rightful leader, Sultan Hj Hassanal Bolkiah.

We started the event with Maghrib Prayers and continued to Isya'k Prayers to membaca Surah Yasin.
Finally, we ended the ceremony with Quizzes in conjunction to our country's national day.
It was an awesome day and the quizzes, especially, tested out our knowledge about Brunei.

Then, Dinner. It was a special menu, prepared by our lovely committee;
Although,it was the National Day, we prepared pasta and desserts, made by the people in our society.

Overall, it was a fun day as we get to have our monthly silaturrahim and gain more knowledge of our motherland. xx

See you soon.
Assalamualaikum.

Durham Trip x Cathedral (January 19th, 2013)

Assalamualaikum all :)

Recently, as a society, we planned a trip for students to see our neighbour town, which was Durham. It didn't take long, only 15-20 minutes by train.  Well, as there were approximately 20 people, including the Durham students. We toured around the town and it was GORGEOUS!!! it was especially fun because it was a "snowy" week.

FINALLY!!! THE CATHEDRAL (It had a front yard, to which was covered it pure snow)

And inside this cathedral is the set used in Harry Potter (You'll know once you see it)

Overall, it was FUN FUN FUN!!!

Have a great day!

Trip to Tynemouth and South Shield

Assalamualaikum, hi!

On 2nd of February, 2013, BNS went for a visit to the Blue Reef Aquarium, Tynemouth and also South Shield.

We took metro from the city centre (Monument) to Cullercoats for about 30 mins and then 5 minutes of walking to the aquarium. But of course it took more than 5 mins for us to walk there as we spent quite a lot of time enjoying the beach view from above and lots of taking pictures!

Blue Reef Aquarium was such an amazing place. We got to see range of creatures from this region to even the tropical ones including the Amazon! Mostly there were marine animals. The seal show was the best part. Two demonstrators showed us a few tricks that the trained seals could do such as waving! Yup, waving just like a normal person does. Just say bye-bye, the seal will wave at you. Pretty awesome, right?

Then we took the ferry from North Shield to go across the River Tyne to reach South Shield to visit the small town and of course, to try the famous Colman's Fish and Chips Restaurant!

To end the visit, we went to Royal Quays outlet selling branded products at reduced retail price. Unfortunately, the time was not there as it was already closed. Oh well, maybe next time. Finally, we decided to skip the last visit and went straight home.

Thank you for reading and as usual, enjoy the photos below!

BNS on Ice!

Assalamualaikum and hi loyal readers!

Every winter, Life Science Centre Newcastle builds ice skating area for only a period of time. So on the 8th of December, 2012 (latepost :p), BNS decided to invite all the members to try ice skating!

Alhamdulillah, about 15 members joined the event. Although the shoes were a bit painful but as most of us were first timers, we did pretty well. We definitely enjoyed the sport!

It was a great experience to be able to skate on such a cold weather even though no snow was falling. We'll definitely make this as an annual event.

Here are some of the photos for you all to enjoy! Cheers!

The smiles on their faces tell you everything :D
